Hey everybody! I often get asked if I specialize in “dry cleaning” carpets. This question usually arises from pet owners who are concerned about the persistent “wet dog smell” either after a carpet cleaning or whenever their carpets are exposed to moisture.
During the explanation of our process I tell our clients that CitruSolution is designed to treat pet smells that arise from diet, excessive skin-oil production, exercise, or urine/fecal issues.
HOWEVER…
Despite the fact that we are well equipped with cleaning agents, attacking the root cause of the some pet smells is not as simple as simply treating the carpet with deodorizing agents. Why? Because the root cause of that damp dog smell is often… pet hair.
I vacuumed, why would I still have pet hair in my carpet?
Removing entrenched pet hair from carpets is a monumental task. Despite the best efforts of many home owners, (or most carpet cleaners) most people are unable to fully remove all the furry clumps from deep within their carpet weave. Hair is ground in, like velcro, down into the deepest layers of your carpet, near the backing. MOST vacuums do not provide enough agitation or suction to bring this hair to the surface.
Our system utilizes a rotary brush attached to a very powerful floor machine. The weight of the machine along with the stiff, yet gentle, bristles allow our system to extract heavy and usually ‘hidden’ contaminates in your carpets.
The picture below was the remnants cleaned from our brush system and vacuum bag after cleaning only TWO rooms for a client who owned a German Shepherd.
